This is a classic film for me. Watched it twice, hence bought for future viewing. Its a humorous film that sees the contrasts between ordinary, everyday people working in a failing northern shoe factory, and a transvestite cum saviour. ( watch the film to make sense of that one!!! )
It also pulls no punches in showing Lola (the transvestite star of the film who models the sexiest red boots that I have ever seen), flamboyant on the exterior but hiding a lonely sadness within and a longing for acceptance of who she is, which contrasts so radically with the humor in the film, and yet demonstrates the directors pure genius in bringing together so many emotions and opinions. It needs watching more than once to fully appreciate all that it has to say. Based on a true story, the only thing that I would like more than a copy of the film is a figure like Lolas.
Hope you jump in and take a look at it for yourself because my review merely gives a taste of what the film is all about, and its worth a look just for the Milan catwalk scenes at the end ---- HAPPY WATCHING.----
