Great 30X 5MP PTZ H.265 camera for the price!
For under $250 this camera so far is amazing. We have a 100’ long warehouse and wanted a PTZ 20x optical zoom camera, but didn’t want to spend over $1,000 for the name brand cameras with similar specs. The price on this one was so low I actually thought it would be bad and I would end up returning it. Instead, I just ordered a 2nd one for our other warehouse since we liked it so much.
The good: Image clarity is excellent. At 50’ away I can zoom in and read text on computer screens and papers. I’d give it a 4+ stars for image quality. I'm using it with a newer Hikvision NVR and had no compatibility issues. The H.265 compression is going to reduce by over 50% the amount of space used up on your storage device which means you can store more than double the amount of video compared to H.264 cameras.
The bad: I could not figure out how to remove from the display the date in Chinese next to the numeric date. Pretty trivial but given you can select various languages in the setup, I expected the text next to the date to also be in English when that is the language I picked. Sometimes it will hunt for 2 or 3 seconds to focus when zooming in real close. Not enough to be bothersome and not anymore than my Sony video camera, so this is probably normal. Finally, a few times the camera did not return to the exact preset locations. It was pretty close but maybe a foot off. For our application this was not important.
My switch displays power consumption for each camera. When stationary this cam was using a bit over 3w and when planning around between 10w and 11w. For compassion, the Hikvision DS-2DE4220IW-DE 20x 2MP cam specs says 20w max power consumption.
Overall I’m quite pleased with the camera. I’d normally give this 4 stars due to the minor quirks but the great price makes this a solid 5 star camera. If I had paid $1,000 for it then I’d probably rate it 4 stars. Photos attached to the review are screen captures off of my iPhone which ate not full quality. The 3rd image is with digital zoom on phone.
