Product Information

When Paris and Helen decide to hit the road together, it means more trouble than they can imagine for both themselves and the people of Troy. But who says Helen is entirely at fault? Sure she had a face that launched a thousand ships but she also had a little interference from the meddling god of love and his mother, Aphrodite. Think you know the truth behind the Greek myths? Think again. Hades is here to set you straight once more on the true story of the Trojan War.

Reviews
...a hilarious book and I would heartily recommend it to young readers who are interested in Greek Mythology and also to those who have read other versions. I bet there's none as funny and original as this one!, If you like funny versions on famous stories, or like to hear a story told from a very different point of view - you will probably enjoy this very much., ...gives the young readers a humorous look at the myths of Greece and makes the gods and goddesses more relatable., What a fun book. I love this retelling of the Trojan War. This series makes ancient Greece with it's myths and legends accessible to young readers., McMullan has managed to add another amusing chapter book to her popular series. . . .Hit the Road Helen! is a quick and fun read that will help children ignite a spark of interest in Greek Mythology., Former teacher McMullan (I Stink!) provides plenty of context for the fun and games that reign among the immortals. Maps, family lineage and a glossary guide kids through this retelling. . . .A funny, smart addition to the Greek myth category as Hades puts the blame on Zeus for the Trojan War., This is a new series for my library. We'll be looking into purchasing this title and the others in the series. Very useful supplementary books for student teachers developing a unit on Greek Myths., This is a fun read for ages 8-12. The comic sense of the mythological characters taking on present day roles and dialogue was interesting and would appeal to this age group., Students who read these will have just as much exposure to classical Greek mythology as they would reading Edith Hamilton or D'aulaire's Greek Myths. My students will often read one of these a day. This volume did seem longer than the others. I'm glad that Capstone has brought them out in hardcovers, since they get a lot of wear., ...a quirky read that I believe will appeal to especially YA male audiences. I will be happy to recommend it., I think most middle graders will love it. There is an element of comedy that the kids will enjoy and the myths are presented in a whole new way., As soon as this book releases, I plan to buy the entire series. All the books in the series just received new covers and they are all as amazing and quirky as this one. I would suggest this book to anyone who loves Greek mythology or wants to get a younger reader interested in mythology. I think these books would be great for young readers, middle grade, and even young adults. They are a light and easy way to get all the information from the myths, which are usually buried under complex language, and I think that everyone will love Hades' no-nonsense recollections., Really, really good book. Loved how it was written and now want to read the older stories for comparison., This is a story well known to most people. Kate adds her personal style to this myth. The story is fantastic, the illustrations fabulous. I think this is a welcome addition to the Mythomania series., The ninth in a series of rollicking Greek-god-and-goddess tales for those not quite ready for Rick Riordan. . . .Young readers will get the whole of the Helen of Troy story in an amazingly lighthearted way, plus discussion questions, a glossary and "King Hades's Quick-and-Easy Guide to the Myths" thrown in for good measure., Never has the Trojan War been so funny. . . .Ms. McMullan manages to condense the entire war, plus the background stories into a little over 200 pages, hitting the high points and managing to shine a spotlight on some great supporting characters. If the ending of this book is to be believed, we will next be treated with Hades' version of "The Odyssey." I can't wait., Hit the road Helen is a wonderful new addition to the series. McMullan takes the extremely involved epic poem the Iliad, the story of the Trojan war, and makes it fun and definitely kid friendly. The humor and modern touches will keep any child engaged and begging for the next in the series., This is the ninth book in the series and I have not read any before this one, however I may just go to the library and grab them. . . .I learned a good amount of information I had forgotten and it was delivered in a fun and lighthearted way for young readers. I recommend this book to young readers and parents for their children to learn/enjoy at the same time.
