AUTHOR: Dr. Steven J. Corvi is a Professor at American Military University. Hid research has concentrated on the First World War and on the British military institutions, and he has a special study of the generalship of Horace Smith-Dorrien. With Ian Beckett he edited Haig's Generals. Professor Ian F.W. Beckett is Professor of History at University of Northampton. He has been Major-General Matthew C. Horner Professor of Military Theory at the US Marine Corps University, Qunatico, Virginia, Professor of Modern History at the University of Luton and Senior Lecturer in War Studies at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. His many publications include The Great War, 1914-18, The Oxford History of the British Army (co-edited with David Chandler), and, as editor with Steven Corvi, Haig's Generals.
