The second edition Parisian Barbie, released about a decade after the first, features some differences in facial features, hair style, and dress—the lace is a different color, and the cut is slightly different. The Dolls of the World series showcases the traditional regional clothing of Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and originals in boxes are prized by collectors of vintage Barbie dolls. This particular Barbie is turned out in the Parisian fashion with a cabaret-style dress, including a shiny, pink bustier top and a long, ruffled skirt trimmed with black lace. Detailing on this limited edition doll includes black ties on her dress, a choker necklace, and black lace stockings with pink shoes. She wears black and pink feathers in her brunette hair to show off the height of fashion in Paris, France. The Parisian Barbie, like some of the early Barbies issued early in the Dolls of the World collection, was originally released by Mattel in the 1980's and 1990's. Since then, Barbie’s face and body have been modified over several decades of the Dolls of the World collection to make the doll more realistic than her predecessors.
