The Cisco 2950 is a rack-mountable catalyst switch design to conserve space in your wiring closet or server room too. It allows you to have control over converged applications and a wide range of services. This model is a member of the Cisco Catalyst 2950 Series Intelligent Ethernet Switches and, as such, is a fixed-configuration, stackable switch (1 rack unit [RU] stackable) that provides wire-speed fast and gigabit Ethernet connectivity for mid-sized workloads and the metro access edge. This series also includes multiple intelligent services that it enacts automatically so that you and your employees have faster, more reliable connections during what might have once disrupted services. Balance your load with this series of 48-port stackable units, and experience more efficiency. When the Cisco Catalyst 2950 switches are combined with a 3550 series switch, the solution can enable IP routing from the edge to the core of the network. Data transfer happens at a rate of 100 Mbps, and its link protocol gives fast Ethernet (100-Mbit/s). Available with this Catalyst 2950 series is the useful Cisco Network Assistant, which is a free, centralized management application that simplifies the administration task of Cisco switches, routers, and wireless access points and kicks automatically into action when needed. The Cisco Network Assistant in this series offers a user-friendly GUI interface to easily configure, troubleshoot, enable, and monitor. The Cisco 2950 WS-C2950G-48-EI delivers intelligent services to the network edge, including enhanced software image (EI) and is ideal for advanced desktop access layer connectivity as well as residential metro access. Other features inlcude uplink and VLAN support, and it also has Indicators Port status, link activity, collision status, port transmission speed, bandwidth utilization, and information about power indicators. Networking is a switch type, and it is connected via wired technology and duplex communication ports. There is also switching Protocol Ethernet and remote Management Protocol (RMON 1, RMON 2, SNMP 1, SNMP 2c, and Telnet). The power supply is internal in this Cisco series. This series has a flash memory of 8 MB flash and a RAM of 16 MB SDRAM. Cisco has designed it to be conveniently stackable, measuring 7.52 inches wide by 1.73 inches high and 12.99 inches deep.
