Are stories born from your midlife experiences different than those of your youth? Does graying hair bring with it a different insight? West Michigan band Mid-Life Crisis explores these questions and others with it's second full length album called "It's Always Something." Crafted over ten months at Mackinaw Harvest Music Studios in Grand Rapids, Michigan, MLC has woven 13 stories into a musical tapestry that presents a variety of styles and influences of the band's collective experiences. Partnering again with long time producer Michael Crittenden, MLC is very proud to present this collection of tales from the midlife. Blues, Soul & Rock-and-Roll - We all have different tastes in music, but MLC points out how we are all the same in this rocker. 2. Lucky - Relationships don't always get easier as we age, but Terry explores how lucky we feel when they work in this song. 3. The Grand Rapids Song - A tribute to our hometown, The Grand Rapids Song reminds us why we all love to come home to our cultural hub. 4. Something Blue - Simply put, this song is about a relationship that doesn't work very well anymore. 5. One More Dance - MLC has been playing this song live for months, and people seem to identify with it, seeming close and familiar with it at the same time. This true story about the loss of a loved one reminds us to never forget, and have no regrets. 6. Stages - You can't reach your midlife without realizing that life is just a series of stages, literally and figuratively. Influenced by the rockers of the 70's, including our favorites like Kansas, Westie shows how we approach it all with a rock and roll flair. 7. Forgotten Souls - Growing up in the 60's, the sting of the Vietnam War still is felt by MLC. Forgotten Souls is a tribute to those we lost, and those who still feel lost. 8. Chasing Fireflies - Chris's melody and Tara's singing remind us that keeping it easy is not always easy, but always important. 9. You - The musicians in MLC have roots in a lot of different styles of music. Kevin's bossa nova shows a jazzy side of MLC. 10. Heavenly Dreams - MLC grew up with the Beatles, and they say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Like Sgt. Peppers, we got carried away in the studio, including everything from a harpsichord to Doc bringing in a marching band drum section. This is our homage to the Beatles. 11. I Laid My Eyes On You - Featuring Tim on vocals, this guitar triumph is classic Greg Morris. 12. One Horse Town - One Horse Town was actually written in a fraternity house at Michigan State in the late 1970's. It took 30 years to finally record, but is still timeless. One Horse Town is also featured on the Standing Together 2009 Project for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. 13. Pick Up Lines - This song was born out of a night of laughter, when we were sitting around talking about bad pick up lines we used in college. The story just sort of wrote itself, and we recorded it with a party in the studio, the only way we could record Pick Up Lines! The seller was quick to respond. My item was just like the pictures. Only thing was, I thought the crocs would be cleaned before getting shipped out. But nothing a sponge and some water to take off some of the wear! Overall I’m happy with the crocs for my son. Looking forward to wearing them all summer long.
