The plastic is thick and not brittle. There is very little assebly to the kit. The package was severely crushed, but there was ZERO damage to any parts of the elevator. It fits perfectly on the plans to my 2'x3' layout, I might even be able to fit in the extra silos kit that is offered for expanding the 2 elevator kits.
