Product Information
One of the most highly regarded games in the TurboGrafx-16 library, Blazing Lazers has players blasting their way through colorful, richly detailed outer space, blasting away at flying brains, parasitic space creatures, armored machinery, and much more. The Gunhed Star Fighter players pilot is equipped with cluster bombs and a powerful lazer cannon that can be altered and upgraded by capturing power-ups, which grant photon blasters, shields, homing missiles, ring blasters, and other useful items. Certain weapons work better in certain areas, so there is a bit of strategy involved. The bosses (such as Big Borg and Gatling Gun) are too easy, and standard enemies don't present much of a challenge until the fifth level, but the constant shooting action and awesome power-ups keep the game exciting throughout. In terms of audio, the sound effects could use more force, and the music is a fairly pleasing mix of techno pop and eerily high-pitched sci-fi sounds. Blazing Lazers doesn't really add anything new to the genre that we haven't seen before in Gradius, R-Type, Life Force, and any number of other scrolling shooters, but it does just about everything right. <! -- Book -- >
